She Really is a Funny Girl that Belle!

And for once it might be grand to have someone understand I want so much more than they've got planned... -Belle, Beauty and the Beast

I'm in the middle of a Disney frenzy right now, and I'm so sad that many have not seen this side of me.  Then maybe people wouldn't assume that this Disney dream is only a dream, or a silly girly fantasy.  As Walt Disney once said,
All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
While I am perfectly aware that not ALL dreams can come true, this quote can ring true for many.  This   summer has been a life changing one for me, and has helped me to see this dream as more possible than ever before.  I've been rather frightened by the thought of living in California.  I'm an Iowa girl through and through.  But after a talk with my role model, Camie Treptau, I felt it was more possible.  She helped me to realize that this Disney passion is what makes me me, and Disney is not going to want someone who doesn't have the passion I have.  And plus, living in that area is a ministry opportunity.  California and the media industry definitely need someone who loves Jesus, and I can be that girl.

I found out Beauty and the Beast the Musical is going to be in Des Moines over my Thanksgiving Break, and I am definitely getting a ticket.  Beauty and the Beast is SUCH an amazing piece of art.  If you have the recent DVD release, watch all the behind the scenes information.  I watched it this past school year and I cried! It's such a beautiful movie and the animation is just perfect, and the music makes the movie.  All the work they put into the movie and the cast of all Broadway singers...  It's simply beautiful.  They had a whole different storyline without music and people didn't like it at all at first.  Then the music came in and it all came together.  Anyway, I got off on a tangent, but Beauty and the Beast... It was the first movie I ever saw.  I was 6 months old. :D

I also read through all the informational pages in my "Disney's Treasury of Children's Classics" while "The Aristocats" was playing in the background.  I used to use this book to press flowers between the pages.  I never really remember reading it as a kid, but you can bet I read it now! I learned a lot today! Such as, Aladdin came out in 1992.  I also learned that "The Aristocats" was the last moved that Walt Disney worked with.  He never saw it to theaters.  "Fox and the Hound" was the last movie that used the original animators from "Snow White."  Tim Burton, the guy who did "The Nightmare before Christmas" was the animator of Vixey, can you believe that? Gosh I love Disney.

I'm so excited to work towards this Disney goal.  Now, don't think I'm being unrealistic.  If it doesn't work out, I am perfectly content in the knowledge that God may have a different plan for me, but that doesn't hurt to dream and to work hard towards a goal.  Over the year I am going to try to stretch my artistic aims and sketch a whole lot more.  I need practice in that.  I'll try to update this blog as much as possible now that I've gotten the hang of blogs.  If you are just reading this, I have another blog about my summer at Village Creek Bible Camp, and it's well worth the read, I believe.  Printmaking 2 is the studio class I have this next semester, so less paintings, but no less that the single one I managed to finish this summer. Hopefully I'll do a lot more than one!! I've got at least 5 other unfinished paintings yet to go! Keep on the look out!

By the way, shameless plug, but have you looked at my art page? Check it out here and like my page!!!
